Meet Our Founder:
Darren Mizon
Darren Mizon is the driving force behind Pocklington Motor Care Ltd. With two decades of hands-on experience in the motor trade, Darren founded the business in November 2006 after the dealership he worked for in Pocklington closed its doors. Rather than stepping away from the industry he loved, he turned challenge into opportunity — launching a garage built on integrity, expertise, and community trust.
Starting his career as an apprentice, Darren worked his way up to become Service Manager, gaining a deep understanding of both the technical and customer service sides of the trade. His philosophy is simple but powerful: honest advice, quality workmanship, and fair pricing are the keys to earning customer loyalty — and it’s a standard that continues to shape everything we do.
Under Darren’s leadership, Pocklington Motor Care has grown into a respected local garage known for its professionalism, reliability, and personal touch.

Work was completed the same day and the vehicle collected. Unfortunately, the following evening it was apparent the replacement part was faulty and or fitted poorly, resulting in a leak. I subsequently returned the vehicle to PMC, who had the vehicle for a further two days. I was then told there was no leak (despite the vehicle losing half a litre of coolant every evening which could be seen visibly dripping from the sump and pooling around the part they replaced)
Cue them having the vehicle back for another four days. At this stage, staff were uninterested in returning my call through the week or even seemed to know what was going on. It was evident they had no real interest in diagnosing or correcting their work which unfortunately led me to have to investigate the fault myself upon taking the vehicle back into my possession.
Ten minutes of investigatory work with a torch showed a snagged o-ring on a poorly installed coolant pipe during their replacement of their part fitting. I strongly suspect no replacement part was fitted as it would have been immediately obvious (even to a layman) that the source of the leak was an o-ring, as it was visibly bulging out of the pipe. I have now spent hundreds of pounds (that I will not get back) and been without the vehicle for a total of 8 days. I was routinely told there was no fault despite showing videos and pictures of the exact location of the leak as a result of their work. I was stuck with a vehicle in a worse state than prior to being dropped off, and I am now left with no choice but to re-do the work at my cost to fix something that would've been easy to rectify had they bothered to even look at the vehicle again properly instead of casting it aside once they had my money.
The team are very friendly, but sadly I no longer have trust in their ability and therefore could not recommend them going forward. A 2 hour job has turned into an expensive saga and my request for a resolution has been ignored and I suspect will continue to be so. An embarrassingly poor service and I regret making them my first choice.
Brilliant service.
In the end I did decide to use them as I have an aftermarket warranty service and Pock Motors diagnosed my issue and did the relevant paperwork to send onto my 3rd party.
Guys all seemed really nice and dropped me off back in Pock after I left my car and then also collected me again
Would definitiley consider using them for any future work
